Day Six - Being Better

Today's challenge is to learn how gritty you are. It turns out that hard work can outplay natural talent, and what drives success is a combination of passion and long-term perseverance.

Angela Duckworth noticed early in her career that some students excelled even though they were not the most gifted. Angela is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and has dedicated her life to the study of grit, which she defines as "the tendency to sustain interest in and effort toward very long-term goals." She shares her research with undergraduates and teaches the very popular "Behavior Change for Good seminar" course.

The good news is that you can learn grit regardless of IQ and circumstances, it can be coached and role-modeled to help people understand what it likes to be gritty.

So how do I get started and learn about grit? It takes less than 2 minutes, but the ten part survey Grit Scale developed to identify traits that might predict success. Take the  grit-scale test  and see if you score higher than my score of 3.83/5.00 (clearly, I need more grit!)

Regardless of your score today, we know that it's trainable, and with practice, we can all develop more grit and self-control.
